Patient Summary

Patient summary is a visual section in the web app and iFrame; it does not apply to the API.

The Patient Summary is the default landing view when opening the Patient Chart. It provides a high-level snapshot of recent clinical activity and commonly referenced data to help users quickly assess the patient's record.

It consolidates key information from across the chart into a set of summary cards. Each card represents a specific data category and provides a preview of the most recent records available for that category.

Basic patient context, such as name, date of birth, and gender, is displayed to support orientation while navigating the chart.

Summary Cards

The Patient Summary includes summary cards for commonly referenced data categories, such as:

  • Encounters
  • Diagnoses / Problems
  • Medications
  • Allergies
  • Diagnostics: labs and imaging
  • Procedures
  • Immunizations
  • Providers

Each card:

  • Displays a limited number of recent records
  • May support filtering within the card
  • Includes a View All action to navigate to the full section

Navigation Behavior

The Patient Summary serves as an entry point into the rest of the chart.

  • Selecting View All opens the corresponding chart section
  • Users can move from summary-level previews to detailed views without changing patient context
  • Navigation from the summary does not trigger new upstream data retrieval

Data Scope

  • Summary cards display only data available in the processed dataset
  • The number and type of records shown depend on prior workflows
  • Empty or missing cards indicate that no corresponding records are currently available
