Health Gorilla in Action

Health Gorilla is an interoperability platform focused on making trusted health data more accessible. The platform is designed to reduce the complexity of health information exchange by enabling secure data sharing through a standards-based, FHIR-centered architecture.

As a designated Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) under TEFCA, Health Gorilla provides a centralized integration layer that enables organizations to access, contribute, and exchange clinical data without building or maintaining separate connections to each national network or partner. These capabilities support interoperability workflows across record retrieval, event-driven notifications, diagnostic ordering, and clinical document exchange.

Challenges We Help You Solve

Health Gorilla addresses common interoperability challenges so organizations can focus on care delivery, operations, and innovation rather than integration overhead.

  • Access longitudinal patient records: Patient360, Patient Chart Viewer, and Individual Access Service (IAS) support document query and retrieval workflows that assemble patient records from participating networks.
  • Stay aware of patient activity: Clinical Alerts and ADT notifications provide event-driven visibility into patient activity through distinct and complementary models.
  • Simplify ordering and results delivery: The Lab Network supports diagnostic ordering and delivers normalized results through a standardized integration.
  • Scale across your organization: Multi-tenant configuration, role-based access controls, and centralized monitoring support data exchange across multiple facilities within an enterprise or health system.

These capabilities reflect Health Gorilla’s mission to simplify interoperability and support trusted health data exchange at scale.

Protecting Every Exchange

Exchange activity on the Health Gorilla platform is protected through encryption in transit and at rest, tenant isolation, and audit logging aligned with interoperability workflows and regulatory expectations. Health Gorilla maintains HITRUST and SOC 2 Type II certifications, and its cloud-native architecture supports geographic redundancy and enterprise-scale performance.

Delivering Clinical Data

Health Gorilla supports access to multiple types of clinical data. Records are processed and, where applicable, normalized and tagged with provenance to support filtering, audit, and reuse.

  • Medical: Encounter summaries, clinical notes, care plans, and procedures available through participating networks
  • Laboratory: Diagnostic orders and results retrieved from national and regional laboratories
  • Medications and immunizations: Prescription and administration information documented in EHR or network records
  • Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers: Admission, discharge, and transfer notifications delivered through ADT feeds or event-driven delivery mechanisms
  • Point-of-care contributions: Structured FHIR resources or clinical documents submitted directly by participating organizations

Built for Integration

Health Gorilla offers multiple integration models to accommodate different technical and operational needs.

  • FHIR APIs: Programmatic integration for record retrieval, data contribution, notifications, and exports
  • Embedded viewer: Clinical record viewing embedded within an EHR or portal using SMART on FHIR launch workflows or secure iFrame-based embedding
  • Web-based access: Secure user interfaces for accessing aggregated records without custom development
  • Ordering workflows: Centralized diagnostic ordering and results access through supported ordering and results interfaces

By combining nationwide network connectivity, patient identity resolution, and a shared FHIR-based platform, Health Gorilla supports access to relevant clinical information across interoperable workflows—supporting care coordination, population health programs, and patient- or consumer-directed data access.
