Network Participation

Health Gorilla connects organizations to nationwide interoperability frameworks through a single, enterprise-managed exchange platform. The platform enables secure, on-demand access to clinical data across hospitals, health systems, diagnostic vendors, and other healthcare participants without requiring organizations to establish or maintain separate technical integrations or legal agreements with each network.

As a designated Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), Health Gorilla operates within established trust frameworks and enforces credentialed exchange, policy compliance, and auditability across participating networks. This role allows organizations to retrieve and contribute clinical data through aligned national and regional exchanges while relying on a consistent governance and security model.

Patient360 performs document and longitudinal record retrieval across these networks, and the Individual Access Service (IAS) supports individual, consent-based access to a person's own records.

Nationwide Exchange Coverage

Health Gorilla participates in major interoperability frameworks and networks that collectively support broad clinical data exchange across the healthcare ecosystem.

Key networks include:

• Carequality: Query-based exchange with hospitals, health systems, and EHR vendors across the United States.

• CommonWell: Bidirectional exchange spanning EHR vendor networks, hospitals, health systems, and ambulatory, specialty, and community-based practices.

• eHealth Exchange: A nationwide network of health information exchanges and federal agencies supporting clinical and public-sector data exchange.

• Health Gorilla HIN: Health Gorilla's own health information network, connecting participants directly through the platform.

• Health Gorilla QHIN: The Qualified Health Information Network through which Health Gorilla exchanges under TEFCA, the federal framework that standardizes nationwide interoperability across Qualified Health Information Networks.

• State and Regional Health Information Organizations: Regional and state-designated networks. Health Gorilla is a designated California Qualified Health Information Organization (QHIO) under the state's Data Exchange Framework (DxF), extending local and regional data availability.

Together, these networks provide access to a broad range of clinical data sources while maintaining alignment with applicable trust, policy, and participation requirements. Diagnostic ordering and results delivery are handled by a separate product, Lab Network, rather than through these record-retrieval networks.

Unified Access Model

Organizations interact with Health Gorilla through a unified access model that abstracts the complexity of network-specific participation requirements.

Under this model:

• Health Gorilla maintains connectivity and trust alignment with participating networks.
• Exchange activity is evaluated against the appropriate framework rules based on participant eligibility and configuration.
• Data retrieval and contribution occur in accordance with the policies of the originating and receiving networks.

This approach allows organizations to access and contribute clinical data across multiple interoperability frameworks through a single platform, without managing separate network integrations or credentials.

Trust Alignment and Accountability

All exchange activity conducted through Health Gorilla occurs within established trust frameworks and is subject to consistent oversight and enforcement.

Health Gorilla applies:

• Framework-specific participation rules and permitted purposes of use
• Identity and credential validation required for exchange
• Logging and auditability of all exchange activity

These controls help ensure that clinical data exchange remains secure, traceable, and compliant as organizations operate across national and regional interoperability networks.
